3:03Now PlayingA panel from the Karnataka state government's NEP has proposed updating history textbooks and arguing for the inclusion of lessons on the "Hindu genocide," questioning whether "we are not man enough to confront the reality." In its position paper, the committee calls for shifting from a colonial, invader point of view to an Indian perspective. This is to be accomplished by teaching 'Knowledge of India' subjects, including everything from history to mathematics. Studying genocides "as a fact of history should not be perceived as agitating a sector of contemporary society," the document claims, because such events "have never been a part of ordinary scholastic media." Instead, the "sole point is to learn from history through local communities."
