For his part, Panneerselvam expelled 22 party members for engaging in anti-party acts, including EPS and former ministers. In addition, the OPS camp wrote to chief secretary V Irai Anbu to demand action after accusing EPS, the head of the opposition in the state assembly, of "operating a rival party office" in a government-allocated bungalow.
