While participating in the "Nabanna Cholo" event, a protest marches to the state secretariat, numerous members of the Bharatiya Janata Party engaged in combat with police amid the continuing political brawl between the BJP and the state's ruling TMC government. Cops used water cannons on BJP workers to stall a rally to 'Nabanna' in Kolkata. The protest took a violent turn and many protestors sustained injuries. Meanwhile, BJP leader Sukanto Majumdar had claimed that West Bengal was experiencing a "condition akin to North Korea." Majumdar stated that the Trinamool Congress (TMC) government had sent out over 4,000 police officers and that they were hurling homemade bombs at BJP activists.
