4:49Now PlayingJai Ram Thakur, the chief minister of Himachal Pradesh, has announced that he will quit shortly as Congress appears poised to take power in the hill state. In a short while, "I will present my resignation to the Governor," stated Jai Ram Thakur, the outgoing chief minister of Himachal Pradesh. He further said that, "I respect the will of the people and wish to thank the PM and other central leadership for the past five years. Regardless of parties, we will support the state's progress. Over the future term, we'll analyse our shortcomings and get better." Early trends from Himachal Pradesh, where the counting of votes cast in the assembly elections is underway, show that the Congress has jumped ahead of the BJP, leading on 38 out of the 68 seats, while the ruling party has won one seat and is ahead on 26.
