He also appreciated the people who brace the Bharat Jodo Yatra led by Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi. The BJP took an early lead in Himachal Pradesh, which has 68 seats, but the Congress overtook it after an hour of counting. The Congress currently leads in 39 seats, but incumbent Chief Minister Jairam Thakur has accepted defeat and stated that the party will "continue to play a positive role." Over 75% of the state's 55 lakh voters cast ballots in the November 12 election to elect its 68-member assembly and government. There are 412 candidates running in this election.
