Reddy has also announced that he will run in the upcoming assembly elections from the Gangavati constituency. Since Gali Janardhan Reddy was imprisoned on charges of illegal mining, there has been speculation about his disagreements with BJP leaders. He is charged with illegal mining and has been out on bail since 2015. In addition to granting bail, the court ordered him to surrender his passport and not leave the country without permission.
