21:57Now PlayingIn this episode of Mirror Metro, the host Shreya Dhoundial will be discussing how the Supreme Court decided on Monday to hear the case against the Collegium's recommendation to appoint senior attorney Lekshmana Chandra Victoria Gowri as a Madras High Court judge on Friday, February 10. The Supreme Court's bench, led by Chief Justice of India (CJI) Dr Dhananjaya Yeshwant Chadrachud, decided to hear the case on February 10 after hearing a statement by veteran lawyer Raju Ramchandran, who appeared for a group of Chennai lawyers opposing the Collegium's suggestion to appoint counsel Victoria Gowri as a judge in the Madras HC. Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju announced on Twitter that the Centre had appointed 13 judges to the High Courts, including Victoria Gowri. She became contentious after stories about her purported BJP affiliation and words she made regarding Muslims and Christians became public.
