5:35Now PlayingRescue operations are underway after the strongest earthquake since 1939 shook Turkey and Syria. The earthquake hit the two countries on the morning of February 6. So far, over 1000 people have lost their lives across Turkey and Syria. The death toll numbers are likely to increase as rescue operations continue. The jolt is said to have lasted for 45 seconds. Earthquake occurred around a region of instability called the East Anatolian fault. Long recognised that this fault is very dangerous but inactive for the past 100 years. Watch the video for more.
