11:16Now PlayingIn this episode of Nation Tonight, anchor Nivedhana Prabhu will discuss how last week, a Chinese fighter jet engaged in a "unnecessarily aggressive manoeuvre" as it attempted to intercept a US surveillance plane in international airspace over the South China Sea. On May 26, a Chinese J-16 fighter cut in front of the nose of a US RC-135 Rivet Joint surveillance plane, forcing the US jet to manoeuvre around the wake turbulence of the intercepting plane. The turbulence is seen as it disrupts the US aircraft throughout its flight route in video of the event that was provided by the US military. The intercept occurs as Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin sets off for Japan to meet with government representatives. We are joined by a few panelists expressing their views on this issue. “This is one of the several episodes which is adding fuel to the fire as far as US-China relations are concerned,” stated Achal Malhotra, Former Ambassador.
