Last night, a cloudburst occurrence in the Solan district claimed the lives of seven people, while a landslip at a Shiv Temple in Shimla's Summer Hill area claimed the lives of nine people. Five fatalities were found in the ruins of a second landslip in the Fagli region, while 17 people were saved. Amit Shah, the union home minister, described the loss of life brought on by the torrential rain as "extremely distressing" and said that personnel from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) are working in relief and rescue efforts in Himachal Pradesh, which has been devastated by it.
