Upon his return to politics, Govinda is most likely to be fielded from Mumbai North West. When Govinda ran for Lok Sabha in 2004 from Mumbai North on a Congress ticket, he beat Ram Naik of the BJP, earning the nickname "giant-slayer." Afterwards, he left the party and stopped participating in politics entirely. After meeting Eknath Shinde last week, there were rumours circulating that Govinda might be considering a second term in politics. Sena leader Krishna Hedge saw the actor at his Juhu house on Thursday morning.
