Arcola, Texas Mayor Fred Burton was arrested on five felony counts including illegal voting, tampering with government records, and fraudulent document execution. Burton used city taxpayer money to hire private investigators to spy on a sitting council member — a move a local reporter called unprecedented. After tricking the council into signing checks worth up to $150,000, losing reelection, and allegedly busing ineligible voters to steal two separate elections in June 2025 and April 2026, Burton also claimed someone mailed him a noose to generate sympathy. The FBI is still investigating the package, but the host believes it was staged. The Fort Bend County grand jury wasn't buying any of it — Burton is now facing decades in prison.
