Russia canceled within its territory the CIS interstate arrest warrant that was declared against former Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces and ex-Defense Minister of Armenia, Mikayel Harutyunyan, Interfax reported.

Armenian police said they had received a letter with respect to the arrest warrant.

“Upon studying the rports against Harutyunyan, who is accused for the March 1, 2008 events which took placee in Yerevan, a decision was made to cancel the search for him on the RF territory,” the source said.

As per the source, even though nothing threatens Harutyunyan in Russia, he still may be detained and extradited to Armenia if he were to travel to any other CIS member state.

The National Assembly on Friday passed in the second—and final—reading the bills on making amendments and additions to the law on Armenia’s criminal code.

With these draft laws, it is envisioned to toughen accountability for electoral fraud in the country.

In particular, these laws propose to prohibit any charity activities during election campaign seasons, and to bring to account not solely for vote buying, but also for pledging to buy votes.

The Armenian National Committee of America (ANCA) called on the U.S. Department of State this week to officially investigate the potentially illegal use of U.S. defense equipment in a 2017 Israeli drone attack by the Azerbaijani military against Artsakh.

In a letter to Acting Assistant Secretary of State for Political-Military Affairs Tina Kaidanow, the ANCA requested an open inquiry into “potential U.S. arms export violations in connection with the Israeli government’s legal action against Aeronautics Defense Systems, an arms manufacturer accused of illegally launching a 2017 Orbiter 1K armed drone attack, in coordination with the Azerbaijani military, against Artsakh”.

Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan will visit France on September 14 and will meet with French President Emmanuel Macron, Co-chairman of the Coordination Council of Armenian Organizations in France (CCAF), Mourad Papazian, told Armenpress.

Armenian PM will also meet with representatives of the local Armenian community to discuss the political situation in Armenia.
