0:51Now PlayingThe first recognizable glass aquarium was invented by a French dressmaker, self-taught naturalist, and pioneering marine biologist, Jeanne Villepreux-Power. She devised the glass tank so she could learn more about the paper nautilus, a species of octopus. The female paper nautilus produces the shell and lays her eggs in it. The male doesn't produce a shell and is many times smaller than the female.
