In this Our Changing Climate environmental video essay, I look at why IKEA is so cheap as well as try to understand the environmental consequences of IKEA furniture's cheap cost. Specifically, I look at how IKEA's supply chain management, assemble-it-yourself, and questionable tax avoidance give rise to IKEA's cheap cost. In addition, I also evaluate IKEA as a sustainable company. I try to understand whether IKEA's sustainability goals are all talk or whether they are actually interested in creating an environmentally conscious furniture company.
