After a bike accident while on vacation, 13 year old Martha Mills was soon admitted to the hospital with a serious pancreatic injury. Her condition was fully treatable, but after her care team refused to listen to the concerns of her family, Martha would go through days of suffering septic shock before passing away. It was only after her passing when NHS hospitals would implement Martha's Rule, a rule giving patients and families the legal right to a second opinion.
