The 329 Days Stuck in Antarctica with Breast Cancer | The Shocking Case of Jerri Nielsen

After accepting a position as the only physician to work at the South Pole for an entire year, Dr. Jerri Nielsen soon noticed a lump on her right breast. And after two self-performed biopsies and an emergency medical supply airdrop, she discovered that the lump was a malignant tumour, also known as breast cancer. With it being the start of winter, flights weren't allowed to land at the Pole until summer arrived 6 months later. But as her condition rapidly declined, officials had to make the difficult decision on whether they would attempt to rescue Jerri in the risky weather conditions or if doing something like this would be far too dangerous for those involved.
