After 23 years of smoking cigarettes, Terrie Hall was faced with multiple health issues. She was diagnosed with cancer multiple times, and forced to remove her larynx/voicebox through a laryngectomy surgery. But despite this procedure leaving a hole (or stoma) in her neck, and leaving multiple scars on her face, she decided to use her story to share with the world. Through the CDC Tips Campaign and multiple other organizations, Terrie spoke out about her story warning the public about the dangers of tobacco use and cigarette smoking. And she did this all the while fighting to stay alive.
