The late Pope Francis was a historic figure. But his views on energy were naive and anti-human. In 2023, he claimed the world should abandon the use of hydrocarbons and instead rely on wind and solar energy. That would be madness. A sudden halt to the use of coal, oil, and natural gas would result in a humanitarian crisis unlike anything the world has ever seen.
