In this week's episode of The Other Side of Change, Jamira Burley and Brea Baker confront a painful question: what does it mean to live and die Black in a country where families are too often forced to fight for basic answers? Beginning with the death of eighteen-year-old Nolan Wells, they examine the unanswered questions surrounding his case and connect it to a broader pattern of missing Black children, hanging deaths, limited media coverage, and long-standing distrust in investigative systems.
Later, Kevin Ortega Rojas, founder of Here's Why with Kevin Ortega Rojas, joins the conversation to discuss why stories involving missing Black children and suspicious deaths so often fail to receive sustained national attention. Drawing on his reporting, he explores the responsibilities of journalists, the role of social media in amplifying both awareness and misinformation, and why supporting families and pursuing verified facts must remain at the center of the search for truth and justice.
