YouTube Description
as posted by the channelTennessee State Rep. Justin Jones was expelled from the state legislature on Thursday after he and two other Democratic lawmakers led a protest over gun violence on the House floor. Jones, who is black, said that he was being expelled because of his race and that his colleagues were trying to silence him.
In his speech before the vote to expel him, Jones recounted the story of a former state lawmaker who was an admitted child molester but was not expelled. He also called out Republican Rep. Gino Bulso, who said that Jones and his colleagues should be expelled and that if they were voted back into office they would be welcomed back into the legislature. Jones responded that Bulso was upset with him because he was being an "uppity Negro."
After being expelled, Jones spoke to MSNBC and vowed to return. "We can never normalize the ending of democracy," he said.
