Pastor Lorenzo Sewell delivered a fiery speech at a Dearborn, Michigan City Council meeting, challenging the city’s leadership over religion, American law, Christianity and what he described as the growing influence of Sharia law.
Sewell, senior pastor of 180 Church in Detroit, told the council that America is not a Muslim nation and argued that American constitutional law — not religious law — must remain supreme.
His speech came amid heightened tensions in Dearborn following demonstrations involving conservative Christian activists, anti-Islam protesters and members of the local Muslim community. Sewell was also associated with the planned “Christian Crusader March” in Dearborn.
