In this conversation, I talk with Rev. Dr. Liz Theoharis to discuss homelessness, poverty, faith, and what the Bible actually teaches about our responsibility to our neighbors.

Rev. Dr. Theoharis is a theologian, anti-poverty advocate, Executive Director of the Kairos Center for Religions, Rights, and Social Justice, and Co-Chair of the Poor People’s Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival alongside Rev. Dr. William J. Barber II. Her work has focused on challenging poverty, confronting injustice, and helping faith communities reexamine how they engage those pushed to the margins.

Together, we discuss why homelessness is often misunderstood in Christian spaces, how people experiencing homelessness are viewed by the Church, and what Scripture says about poverty, dignity, and our call to love our neighbors.

This conversation was brief, but it raises an important question:

If Jesus consistently drew near to those who were marginalized, overlooked, and excluded, why do so many Christians struggle to do the same today?
