I Will Never Stop Being Catholic! #jesusislord

I was born Catholic. Raised Catholic. But it wasn’t until I almost walked away that I saw the depth and beauty of this faith for what it truly is.

When I went to college, the world told me I was wrong.

That the Church was evil. That worshiping “white Jesus” made me blind. That being Black and Catholic was the most backwards thing I could do.

And for a moment, I listened.

I sat in rooms where people mocked the Church.

I let the doubt creep in.

I watched others quote Scripture like weapons and thought,

“Maybe I missed something. Maybe they know more than I do.”

So I searched.

Other churches. Other faiths. Other paths.

I went to a prominent Black Protestant church.

I chased truth everywhere I could find it.

But it was God Himself who led me home.

Not man.

Not emotion.

Not culture.

The Holy Spirit taught me how to be Catholic.

Taught me that this is not a denomination.

It is the faith. The one true Church founded by Jesus Christ Himself.

The same Jesus who said to Peter,

"Upon this rock I will build my Church."

The same Jesus who gave us the Sacraments.

The Eucharist. Confession. Baptism.

Grace upon grace upon grace.

The Catholic Church canonized the Bible.

We’re not people of the book. We’re people of the Word made flesh.

We are the Body of Christ.

We are universal.

We are ancient.

We are alive.

We are Black.

We are Catholic.

And we are not afraid.

I'll see you on the other side of heaven.

Because I know where I'm going. And I know who brought me here.
