COVID Rises In Florida, Gov DeSantis Rediscovers Science

Why has Gov. Desantis waited so long to personally promote the vaccine?

After spending most of the pandemic lying about COVID cases, and covering up any and all health data that could be used to track the disease's progression through the sunshine state, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has recently changed his tune. In a press conference earlier this month, Governor DeSantis urged Floridians to get the vaccine. He noted that the vax makes it less likely for you to catch COVID to begin with, and it will absolutely make it much easier on your body if you do catch it (so you probably won’t need to go to the hospital, and it’s not going to kill you).

Over the past two weeks, about one-fifth of all national cases occurred in Florida, where 27,000 new cases were reported on Friday July 23rd alone. Cases are currently rising precipitously in regions where there is a large population of unvaxxed individuals, of which there are more than a few in Florida.

As the more contagious and dangerous Delta Variant has begun to appear, some hospitals in these unvaccinated regions are already approaching early pandemic levels of COVID hospitalizations, and many are on track to possibly exceed these numbers. 95+% of those being admitted to the hospital for COVID are unvaccinated themselves, and by the time they get there it’s too late for them to get vaccinated, even if they finally understand the risk they took by refusing to protect themselves and their community through a vaccine.
