In honor of an incredibly cringey week in politics, Francesa Fiorentini and guests, Nato Green and Alicia Garza adjudicated who would get the prestigious Cringey Award. Top contenders were Ted Cruz and Candace Owens, who, as per the usual, embarrassed themselves in a way only true conservative hypocrites can. While Ted Cruz opted to suck up to Tucker Carlson in a manner even first grade gifted children would admire, Candace Owens turned to #humblebragging about how much the unvaccinated elite get free passes, while also not even trying to hide that her source of information is personal life experience as an unvaccinated elite.
But, in the end, the esteemed award went to Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, who introduced the cast of Hamilton at a January 6th remembrance event. Why. Would. You. Do. This. Ruin Hamilton and the memory of a near-fascist coup? The level of work it took to create this experience ended up winning the Cringey makes us wish it was fake, but sadly we know it was all horrifyingly real. A multi-layered and inspiring cringefest took place during her 30 second intro that can only be described as deserving of the Cringey award.
