While this week saw Israel’s largest pro-ceasefire protests since the beginning of the war, Netanyahu seems determined to continue the slaughter. Protests broke out on Monday after Israel's largest union called for a general strike in the wake of the news that an additional 6 Israeli hostages were killed. While the strike was short-lived, the protests grew to be even larger than the recent anti-Judicial reform protests.
Though the street protests don’t focus on mass death happening to their neighbors in Gaza or the recent invasion of the West Bank, it does show us that the appetite for a ceasefire is strong in Israel and that people are ready for the war to end. Despite growing public outrage and pleas from the families of the remaining hostages, Netanyahu has vowed not to “surrender” and to continue the war.
