Last week, the popular podcast invited Kamala Harris’s aides to defend or rebuke their political strategy and Harris’s failed campaign. Harris’s top leaders said that the Democrats' loss was out of their control.
"This political environment sucked. We were dealing with ferocious headwinds, and I think people's instinct was to give the Republicans and even Donald Trump another chance," said Harris campaign senior advisor David Plouffe who went on to complain that "it's really hard for Democrats to win battleground states."
On the campaign trail, Harris made little to no effort to differentiate herself from President Joe Biden---which may have led to her downfall but Harris’s aides said she did plenty to distance herself from Joe, stating that she "focused from the get-go on how she was different." However, if memory serves us, when she was asked how she would deviate from Biden, Harris’ first answered that she would be no different. Then she added that she’d nominate a Republican to her cabinet. Cool.
Frighteningly, Democrats are doubling down: they and their consultants couldn’t possibly be the problem. Further they make the mistake of painting Trump as a unique threat, rather than seeing the reality that the Democratic party may be a sinking ship.
