MAGA Republicans’ all out war on DEI has made the U.S. infinitely less safe. As if making air travel more deadly wasn’t bad enough, now they are pulling funding for research into protecting pregnant women from domestic violence. That’s right, the “pro-life” party doesn’t want to protect the lives of pregnant women. This is not hyperbole, because the leading cause of death for pregnant women in the U.S. is homicide by a domestic partner!
Obviously these Christian nationalists do not care about women’s safety. They love to espouse their doctrine of ‘family values’, but really what they want is to dominate women. Eliminating Roe v. Wade was about giving control of women’s bodies back to the patriarchy. The same is true for eliminating this funding. Trump will get rid of anything that could challenge Republican misogyny. DEI is just the convenient buzz word they can throw around to hide their true goals.
