Frankly, it’s getting hard to keep track of all the different examples of Trump’s brownshirts abusing their power. The latest happened to a Democratic senator from California. Everyone’s least favorite cosplayer, Kristi Noem, was holding a press conference when Senator Alex Padilla approached her to ask her questions. Immediately, DHS thugs grabbed Padilla, dragged him out of the room, threw him to the ground, and handcuffed him. You read that right, they did all of that to a LITERAL U.S. SENATOR.
Of course Noem tried to spin the narrative around the event, saying the senator “never identified himself.” Good thing there wasn't video of the whole incident… Oh wait, there are several. Oops! One of the very first things Padilla says to Noem is that he is Senator Alex Padilla. But it was probably hard to understand the man when he was literally being attacked the second he started speaking.
Padilla is fine and has been released, but what he said following this event rings true. If this is what they are doing to an U.S. senator, imagine what is happening to farmworkers, day laborers, kitchen staff, and other immigrants who are just trying to survive. Good on Padilla to recenter the conversation on what really matters here.
