Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has been under the microscope in recent days, after reporting surfaced late last month that the Pentagon chief ordered a second strike on a vessel after the first hit left survivors. The administration has largely defended the military operation as Hegseth has tried to distance himself from the controversy.
Jeffries’ comments come as the Defense secretary, Joint Chiefs of Staff Chair Dan Caine, Secretary of State Marco Rubio prepare to brief the so-called “Gang of 8” lawmakers on the boat strikes. The briefing comes after bipartisan calls for transparency.
The press conference is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. EST.
