In September of the year 1522 AD, Juan Sebastian Elcano and his ship, Victoria, limped into a Spanish harbor. Elcano and his 18 crewmen were the lone survivors of Captain Ferdinand Magellan's attempt to circumnavigate the globe. What we know of the voyage largely comes from Antonio Pigafetta, the chronicler of the expedition; and amongst his tales of mutiny, illness, and treacherous seas, one story stands out as the strangest: an encounter with giants on the distant shores of Patagonia. Pigafetta tells of trade, dance, and a deadly battle with the beasts of the new world. Did Magellan and his crew really fight the Giants of Patagonia? Welcome back to The Lore Lodge...
