On April 1st, 2014, Dutch tourists Kris Kremers and Lisanne Froon were seen hiking up the Pianista Trail just outside of Boquete, Panama - it would be the last time they were ever seen alive. Or was it? Over the years, this story has taken on a life far beyond any typical missing persons case. Remains were found in places that didn’t make sense, witnesses gave staggeringly different accounts of events, police failed to follow up on crucial leads, and there seems to be a concerted effort to avoid anyone uncovering anything which might point towards a foul play scenario.
As we established in Part I of this series, nobody has been able to prove one way or another what happened to these two young women; and how there are many people both within and outside of Panama who don’t buy the government’s official story that these girls just got lost in a tragic accident. In Part II, we dove deep into the witness statements given by the very people who reported them missing, and examined the various inconsistencies and contradictions within their accounts. Today, in Part III, we’ll be covering the accounts of witnesses who claimed to have seen them in town or along the trail, the strange references to an unexplained red truck seen on the day of the disappearance, and some bizarre inconsistencies regarding the how, when, where, and who regarding the remains found east of the continental divide.
