16:55Now PlayingCandace Owens is celebrating one viral moment from her debate with Andrew Wilson as evidence that she got the better of him — but that clip leaves out a much bigger problem.
Near the end of the debate, Candace challenged Andrew to name the seven charges against Tyler Robinson. Andrew struggled with the specifics while Candace correctly listed aggravated murder, firearm discharge, obstruction of justice, witness tampering and an offense committed in the presence of a minor. Even I’ll admit rhetorically that it was a strong moment for her. But winning one gotcha exchange is not the same thing as proving your case.
Earlier in the same debate, Candace admitted she had missed a much more significant detail despite repeatedly portraying herself as someone who has been obsessively investigating this case: an alleged text from Tyler Robinson stating, “It was me. Look at the pictures from the surveillance footage. It was me.”
Candace later reposted the seven-charges clip and said she was “genuinely astonished” Andrew would think she needed help answering a question about a case she had been obsessively studying since September.
That is the contradiction I’m focusing on.
Knowing the seven charges makes Candace look prepared. It does not establish that Tyler Robinson was a patsy, prove an alternative shooter theory, or provide the positive evidence she agreed to defend during the debate. My criticism is that she is elevating a rhetorically successful moment into something much larger than it actually proves.
