Gridlock, hate speech, dark money, negative ads, political parties at each other's throats instead of working together for our common good? It's almost enough to cause people give up on American democracy. But don't go there, please. Hang in.
Because we can fix our broken democracy. I know that because good people from Florida and the Carolinas to the Dakotas and Washington State have shown me how they're winning reforms to make our elections fairer and to restore the power of We the People. In fact, 2018 was the best year for political reforms in half a century.
That's an amazing story. I call it the DEMOCRACY REBELLION, I've filmed grassroots reformers in several states and now i want to share their videos with you. That's the whole point of this YouTube channel - to showcase and share the incredible and inspiring stories of ordinary Americans like you and me fixing our broken democracy.
Two of my favorites are the BadAss Grandmas of North Dakota - that's what they call themselves - two women in their 70s, one a Democrat, the other, a Republican, who organized a citizens campaign against lobbyists, special interests, and out-of-state money corrupting their elections. And they won.
Other citizens reformers have been rebelling against politicians' rigging elections, rising up against billionaire and corporate money, fighting for voters' rights and working for fair, clean elections. Their courage and commitment are infectious. You'll love them.
My hunch is tha tyou;ll catch the bug = that after you see these videos, you'll take heart and decide to take action, to come off the sidelines and join the fight in your own hometown and your home state to clean up our corrupt politics and help restore the power of We the People
