as posted by the channelHenry County, Indiana Sheriff John M. Sproles can be heard making a "racist" comment in this quick clip while speaking to a Shirley Town Councilor on the phone on July 31st, 2023. Sheriff Sproles was attempting to push a "strange" narrative that he started pushing, roughly, a month before the phone call. That narrative was... that a Shirley Police Officer named Roger Humphries (who happens to be a black man) was attempting to "trick &/or trap" the Sheriff in some kind of a trap! The FULL PHONE CALL is approximately 26 minutes long and can be heard by clicking a link at the bottom of this description.
In this clip the Sheriff says that Officer Humphries was "THERE TO PROTECT HIS PEOPLE" (the people that Sheriff Sproles is referring to were a group of juvenile dancers, their coach/instructor & about 4 or 5 other adults from out of state. Their bus broke down in Henry County, Indiana on June 11th, 2023.) (For reference, everyone on the bus, also, happened to be "African American/Black!)
Besides the very unprofessional remark about Officer Humphries & the citizens on the bus... Sheriff Sproles had been sending emails to the Shirley Police Chief and the Shirley Town Council trying to defame Officer Humphries and cause him trouble with his supervisor(s).
Sheriff Sproles started all of this "crazy" behavior when he pulled up to the broke down bus on State Road 109 on Sunday, June 11th, 2023. Sheriff Sproles, along with 2 of his Deputies & Officer Humphries were all on the side of the road, with bus & dance crew. Straight away Sheriff Sproles started treating the people on the bus rudely... he was talking crazy and accusing the dance crew of possible "sex trafficking!" He was unprofessional and appeared to be "RACIST" due to his actions & comments... both on the scene and afterwards with everything he has done since!
Less than a month later... Sheriff Sproles would shoot an UNARMED, AFRICAN AMERICAN MALE, WHILE THE MALE WAS IN A JAIL CELL, IN THE HENRY COUNTY JAIL. He shot him, at point blank range, 4 times, with 4 BEANBAG ROUNDS, from a 12 gauge, "LESS LETHAL" SHOTGUN. The inmate had been having some issues, but at the time he was shot, he was unarmed, in a cell, not around any other inmates or jail officers. He was kicking a steel jail cell door, but he couldn't damage the door or hurt himself or anyone else. This is being investigated!
