1:00Now PlayingMuncie City Councilor Nora Powell (D-District-2) questions City Controller Craig Wright about the 10% raise that "Mayor Ridenour's Administration" recent offered AND STARTED PAYING the City's "AFSCME Union" employees WITHOUT the Council's knowledge & approval.
That action put the City "outside of City Ordinance" (which basically means... they are not following the law) because they did not bring an AMENDED Salary Ordinance to the Council... for a discussion and then, most importantly, a vote!
And now, while everyone pretty much agrees the raise is MORE THAN deserved. There's a RIGHT WAY & a WRONG WAY to go about it. And all of that, coupled with the fact that the Mayor has been at odds with the AFSCME Union, for some time now... and it leaves MOST people wondering what is going on?
