10:25Now PlayingInternet DEFENDS "Popcorn Guy" From Bully, Bully Then Deletes Their Account
A man in Corpus Christi Texas went viral on TikTok and many other platforms for serving popcorn to customers at a movie theater with some pizzaz and added his own flare and showmanship, as you can see in the video. However, someone decided to bully him for just doing what he enjoyed, by saying: "I been dying at this the whole day" followed by laughing emojis and then "i just know he thought he was killing this sh**". This was then followed by intense backlash, with tweets such as: "My man’s went full globe trotters with a bucket of pop corn and you ain’t impressed a lil? 😬 Damn you strict", "all i see is a man making a mundane job enjoyable and fun. and his popcorn probably top tier delicious 😭", "He is A1 in my book he buttered the whole container", "Perfectly buttered popcorn. He got every layer and shook it up too. He was absolutely killing it."
Many users were pointing out that his technique actually distributed butter effectively throughout the tub of popcorn, a big issue movie go-ers face is having butter that's just at the top because that's pretty much when they only put it on. Sometimes also the middle. So not only did they argue that there was some interest, showmanship, etc, but also that there was efficacy in having better tasting popcorn.
The original user who was bullying the "popcorn guy" ended up tweeting "& for the ones crying i simply DGAF... its a joke. weak *ss generation." This is a common tactic used by bad people. Say something bad, wait to see the reaction, if it is bad, just say it was a joke. Schrödinger's douchebag basically. Until the negative reaction hits, you can say they are both a douchebag/not a douchebag, or that it is a joke or not a joke.
The user then went on to delete their entire account, which many people are pointing out in tweets, saying that she was the one who ended up leaving. It is nice to see the internet come in and defend this man, who was being bullied for trying something unorthodox, making what is typically a very uniform boring labor, interesting.
I think that society has trained people to be such corporate zombies, that anything done that's not normal is considered to be bad. Everyone is so scared and sensitive towards what others will think about what they are doing. Even "content creators", supposedly the most creative of them all, are extremely uniform and for the most part just copy each other. Our society is running out of creativity, as it creates corporate slave zombies. We should applaud this, and it's something we can do in our regular lives for fun as well, to spice things up.
