EPISODE #40
Choreplay: The mistaken idea that doing more around the home will get a husband laid. The term originated from an article published in 2008 – "Girls make passes at guys who wash glasses" it was built around the idea that if a man were to contribute more around the house by way of doing more domestic chores, traditionally performed by women, that a man might free up his wife (or attract a girlfriend) to feel more amorous because she was less burdened by housework.
Later this theory would be proven entirely false, by the same author no less, in 2013. It is when men do traditionally masculine work that gets women's hormones flowing. Every 4-5 years the Choreplay narrative gets reheated in some variety, but the implied transaction is the same; do more work – Get more sex.
Today Pat and I will put to bed this urban legend and explain why it's evolutionarily impossible for a woman to feel genuine desire for a man who does "women's work".
Also on today's show, we'll discuss how couples 'therapy' is usually "last stop before toll" and why this racket always benefits the wife/woman in the relationship. Showtime has a new "documentary series" (see social engineering) called Couples Therapy that's shining a light on this negotiation of desire.
Lastly, we'll discuss how marriage is becoming a 'gig economy' and the mechanics behind Economic Compatibility. Why is women's concept of love rooted in opportunism? A recent research study connects the decline in marriage rates to men being "economically undesirable".
