Republican Congressman Matt Gaetz is still serving on the House Judiciary Committee, and yesterday he was allowed to interrogate the head of the FBI about the origins of the Coronavirus, at times getting very testy with Christopher Wray's responses. Gaetz shouldn't be allowed to do this, but Republicans refuse to acknowledge the allegations against him as they pretend everything is ok. Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins discusses this.

Yesterday, Republican Congressman Matt Gaetz, who still sits on the judiciary committee in the House of Representatives, was allowed to interrogate Christopher Wray, the director of the FBI, which in case you haven't been following, following along that that is the body that is investigating Matt Gaetz for potential trafficking charges and obstruction of justice and several other things. But Matt Gaetz was allowed to sit on that committee and interrogate and at times get very, very testy with FBI director, Christopher Wray, the man running the organization that is investigating Matt Gaetz. Now this hearing obviously was not about Matt Gaetz. It was not about anything Gaetz has done, excuse me. This was about the origins of the Coronavirus and Gaetz wanted to know firmly. What do you know Mr. Wray? What has the FBI looked into? What is going on here? Why don't we know if this thing was created in a lab or not?

And Wray said, well, you know, we're looking into whatever we got and we'll figure it out. And then that's when Gaetz got really testy because he wasn't getting the answers he wants. But all of that's beside the point. The point is Matt Gaetz is under FBI investigation and he is sitting there without a care in the world, yelling at the director of the FBI all because Kevin McCarthy doesn't have a spine. I don't know how the man is even able to stand upright because he has nothing, nothing supporting him. Here's the thing, Kevin McCarthy and other Republicans have said that if Matt Gaetz is indeed charged in this investigation, they're going to remove him from his committees. That's it. That's all they're going to do. But here's what you could actually do right now, Kevin McCarthy, and it wouldn't affect anything within the Republican party. You could go ahead and remove him from his committees.

You could replace him with a different Republican, and then if no charges come, do you know what you can do? You take the temporary person off, person off, and you put Matt Gaetz right back there. Boom problem solved. If Matt Gaetz ends up getting charged, then you don't have to worry about doing the old switcheroo again later. But Matt Gaetz should not legally be allowed to question the director of the FBI while he is sitting there under investigation by the FBI. Do you not understand how that would cloud somebody's judgment and make them less likely to be able to execute their job properly in the US House of Representatives when they know that that man sitting right there in that chair that they're yelling at has all the power to essentially and effectively end their political career and send them to prison for many, many years to come. Yeah. I don't know that I would trust the guy that has all that to lose while questioning the director of the FBI.

Kevin McCarthy could put an end to this. Kevin McCarthy could strip him of his committee assignments even just temporarily and if nothing comes of it, you put him back on the committees, no harm, no foul. Everybody moves along and says, oh crap, Matt Gaetz didn't get taken down. Oh well. But the Republicans won't do that. Meanwhile, you got Democrats, Ilhan Omar made an accurate assessment of US foreign policy over the last few decades. And now you got the Democrats coming out, releasing statements, condemning her.
