During an appearance on Fox News this past weekend, Lara Trump, the wife of Eric, suggested that people living along the southern border needed to "arm up and get guns" in order to fight back against migrants crossing the border. In addition to this being incredibly irresponsible and dangerous rhetoric, experts also say that it could possibly lead to criminal charges for inciting violence. Over the weekend, Lara Trump, the wife of Eric Trump made waves during an appearance on Fox news, where she appeared to suggest that people living along the Southern border in the United States needed to get guns, arm up and get guns were her exact words, in order to, as she put it, take matters into their own hands. Disgraceful to see. And I don't know what you tell the people that live at the Southern border. I guess they better arm up and get guns and be ready. And maybe they're going to have to start taking matters into their own hands. It should never happen. These people should never make this dangerous journey here.

The take matters into their own hands part is what is obviously so problematic, after you call for people to go get guns and then saying, take matters into your own hands. Now, of course she said, they may have to take matters into their own hands. And that may, her saying they may have to take matters into their own hands, is possibly the only thing that might keep her out of severe legal trouble, because what we have here according to legal experts is a possible case of incitement to violence. Obviously, if you coerce someone or convince someone, or even tell someone to go get a gun and take matters into your own, into their own hands, that could have very easily be construed as incitement to violence. If anyone living along the Southern border takes her advice and actually does what she suggested that they do, that could be incitement to violence.

But the fact that she said may have to take matters into their own hands. That one single word folks, legally speaking, might be the only thing that could prevent her from being prosecuted for this. Now you had Fro Wellman, Fred Wellman, excuse me, from the Lincoln Project who cited 18 US code 373, solicitation to commit a crime of violence, which he says allows for a prison sentence of up to 20 years for quote, whoever with intent that another person engage in conduct constituting a felony that has an element, has an element to use, attempted use or threatened use of physical force against property or against the person of another in violation of the laws of the United States and under circumstances, strongly corroborative of that intent, solicits commands, induces, or otherwise endeavors to persuade such other person to engage in such conduct.

And by the letter of the law there, it certainly would seem that that is what that statement that you just heard Lara Trump make, it seems to fit within that definition. Laws aside, what's happening here is that Lara Trump, like so many other Republicans is trying to paint the border of the United States as this massive crisis that everybody's ignoring. Nobody's paying attention to it. Biden's let everything go to hell. When in reality, we have seen apprehensions at the border increase. We have seen deportations increase. We have seen, for a couple of months this year, detainees, the number of detainees increase.
