Biden Calls For MORE Oil Production After Saying We Have To Tackle Climate Change

The Biden Administration is calling on OPEC to increase their oil production to help with rising gas prices in the United States just days after a devastating IPCC report stressed the urgency of addressing the factors that are exacerbating climate change. Oil is not the answer, and we may have to deal with short term change in order to get the country - and the planet - to where it needs to be. Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins discusses the situation.

Earlier this week, we got the damning IPCC climate change report showing us that things are probably a little worse than we had thought and they're going to continue to get worse. There is hope, obviously, if we can kick our fossil fuel habit, if we can stop our polluting ways, we might still be able to reverse a little bit of the damage and of course avert some of the absolute worst consequences of climate change. And unfortunately, as we all know, this year alone has shown us the extreme weather events linked to climate change that just our country is experiencing here. After this IPCC report came out, Joe Biden tweeted out that, you know, we have to do something about this. We cannot let this slip by. We've gotta be proactive, yada, yada. And then the next day, yesterday, he comes out his administration and says, hey, OPEC, get busy producing more oil so we can lower our gas prices here in the United States. And sure gas prices have steadily been going up. It's a thing that happens. We've had gas shortages this year. And so Biden after getting this horrifying report, you know, telling us we have to act now or else it's gonna eventually be too late.

We're running out of time. There is still time, but we're running out of it. And then Biden comes out the next day and says, we need more oil production because Americans don't want to pay more at the pump. This is ridiculous. No, this is ridiculous. We literally just got a report telling us, hey, we're still killing the planet and we're killing it faster than we thought. And you're going to pay lip service to it in a tweet and then beg OPEC countries to produce more oil so we can have cheap gas here in the United States. This is appalling. This is a massive failure of the Biden administration, a Biden administration that as our regular viewers understand, I have applauded their environmental efforts so far. I have criticized them where they do not go far enough. Like they have to ban fracking, but they've made progress to a degree. This sets it all back. This really truly does. We do not need more oil production. Yeah, it's sucks paying more at the pump, but what we need are more electric vehicles. What we need are more fuel efficient vehicles. So when you go up and fill up with a tank of gas, it doesn't hurt quite so much because you don't have to come back for a month or two.

But if we do not switch to electric vehicles and renewable energy, and if we do not stop the burning of fossil fuels, the planet is not going to be good. I mean, that's putting it as mildly as humanly possible. But we can't have an administration that is out there begging oil companies to do something, to save us from the, they're not going to save us from anything. They're the ones who helped cause the crisis to begin with. We have seen fossil fuel failures this year that have been absolutely mind blowing. The energy industry in the state of Texas during winter storm URI. The gas shortages of just a few months ago, gas shortages during natural disasters, the fossil fuel company isn't coming to rescue anybody. They love higher gas prices, folks. And by the way, just a note to the Biden administration on how capitalism works, supply and demand.
