Mary Trump, the niece of former president, Donald Trump, during a recent interview with Mehdi Hasan on MSNBC, where she was talking about a wonderful piece that she's written for the New Republic, mentioned that her uncle Donald may run for president again, due to the fact that these repressive voter suppression laws across the country might make it easier for him to win. That's a terrifying thought, isn't it? And to be honest, that's kind of one thing I hadn't exactly put together. I've said in the past, if Trump runs again in 2024, I'm really not that afraid of him. We've seen that the public cannot stand the guy. They are sick of him. But what if the people who are sick of him don't have a voice in 2024 because of these voter suppression laws? Then yeah, suddenly we're looking at a very different scenario and that is exactly the point of these voter suppression laws. But here's the other flip side of that. The voters suppression laws aren't meant to take out moderate voters, right? They're meant to take out the Democrats. So if you still have enough moderate voters out there who don't like Donald Trump, it may not do him any good.

Although of course, with fewer Democrats able to vote, it's obviously going to be for, you know, in Trump's favor. But I think the big point that Mary Trump is getting at here is that Donald Trump would only run for president again, if he were certain that he could win and that's the big X factor. He has to have absolute certainty, which is why he hasn't made any decisions yet because right now he doesn't think he would absolutely win. You know, he was kind of hoping on all of these election challenges, the ballot audits, maybe it would prove something that might give him a little boost. None of that has come to fruition. So his last best hope would in fact be these voter suppression laws popping up all over the country. But they haven't all been passed yet. Oh sure, we have one in Florida. We have one in Georgia. We have one in Texas on the verge. But those are states with the exception of Georgia, obviously, that he already won. And it's likely that he would win Georgia, but Georgia alone is not enough to get him back into the White House. He can carry Florida. He can carry Texas. He's not going to get California and New York, but it's the Midwest states. It's your, Wisconsin's. Your Minnesota's. You Michigan's.

Those are the states that needs. And luckily right now, those states do not have those restrictive voter suppression bills happening. Oh, they've been proposed. Sure. But there's no forward momentum on them just yet. And I think if we go on Mary Trump's assumption here, that would likely be what Donald Trump is waiting for. Things could all change in some of these areas after 2022. We're going to get new governors. We're going to lose some Democrats. We may gain some Democrats. You know, we'll have to wait and see what state legislatures are like, if they're going to push forward with these voter suppression bills or not. So I don't think we're going to hear any definitive answers from Donald Trump, even though he swears he's made his up, made up his mind. We're not going to hear any definitive answer till after the 2022 midterms, because he'll have a clearer picture of who can do his bidding once that happens.
