Arkansas Uses COVID Funds To Buy Books From Mike Huckabee's Company

The state of Arkansas has spent hundreds of thousands of dollars in COVID relief funds to buy books from a controversial company founded by former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee. The company, Everbright Media, has been accused of pushing right wing propaganda for children, and it has also been accused of engaging in a bait-and-switch scam on unsuspecting parents. This is a disgusting move by the state as they continue to battle the pandemic, as Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins explains.

The state of Arkansas has found a way to funnel roughly half a million dollars to a company owned by former Arkansas governor, former GOP candidate and possible current Fox news host, I don't know where his show actually airs now, but anyway, to Mike Huckabee. Half a million dollars to a company called Everbright Media that was founded by Mike Huckabee all the way back in 2011 and the Arkansas state education department is paying this money to purchase books put out by Everbright Media called, the kid's guide to Coronavirus. They spent $245,000 last year on the book. And this year they announced they're going to spend another $265,000 on an updated version of this book, which many believe to be nothing more than right-wing propaganda from a company that has been called out for producing right-wing propaganda in the past.

Oh, and of course, by the way, this Everbright Media, uh, they had many complaints to the better business bureau after parents felt they had been scammed by signing up for a free trial then finding out that they're getting charged $20 a month for these propaganda Mike Huckabee books. So the company's already been flagged for scamming, allegedly, parents. They've also been called out for producing right-wing propaganda. But of course, the Republicans in charge of Arkansas said to hell with it. We like Mike Huckabee. He was our governor from 96 to 2007 or 97 to 2006, whatever it is, and we're going to buy his books.

We're going to send a half a million dollars his way. Oh, and by the way, we're not just spending state money. No, that would be irresponsible. These are actually part of the COVID relief funds that the state received. So this is money that could be going to schools to help them, you know, put up partitions, clean the schools, provide face mask, hand sanitizer, cleaning supplies, whatever it is. Oh no, no, no, no. We're not going to do that. But we will give every single student in the state, both public and private, a copy of this idiotic Mike Huckabee's company book, that also has this quote in it, face masks aren't recommended as a way of preventing Coronavirus for healthy people.

So this little propaganda piece of crap that they're spending half a million dollars on literally tells kids that they don't have to wear a face mask. That face masks are ineffective. Even though every study has said, face masks are effective at preventing the spread. And this is what kids in Arkansas are being fed right now. And Mike Huckabee is happy to cash those checks, have his company keeps spitting out these idiotic books every single year, and it is what it is. And this also could be a way for Republicans in the state of Arkansas to butter up Sarah Huckabee Sanders, who as we all know is likely running for governor of the state. Her father was previously governor, as I had mentioned, he was very well-liked. So what better way to get on her good side before she's even elected than to send half a million dollars to the company founded by her own family?
