The Senate race up in Pennsylvania took an unusual turn this week after the website, Jezebel posted a review of studies that were conducted by Dr. Oz when he was in charge of the, uh, uh, was it Columbia Medical, uh, Columbia University Institute of Comparative Medicine. From 1989 to 2010, they analyzed dozens of different studies and revealed the Dr. Oz and his team killed hundreds of dogs and puppies along with hundreds of pigs, rabbits, and other rodents. And this wasn't just, Oh, no, these animals died as we were doing medical experience, uh, experiments, which of course does happen. No, it turns out that they were in violation of the law with the way these animals were treated and ultimately killed. In fact, there was a massive investigation into this. There's testimony where veterinarians who were a part of this testified that laws were broken in the cruel treatment of these animals. So once this news broke, Dr. Oz's democratic opponent, John Federman, took to social media and called Oz out for this in a very simple one sentence tweet, Dr. Oz is a puppy killer. Now, you may think that maybe that's not the most, you know, hard hitting message out there,
But honestly, I think it is. Like, who can object to puppies, who can object to dogs? Like I get? Some people are scared or are scared of dogs. Most people are not. Most people understand puppies are cute. We all universally left, right center. Everybody loves puppies. Dr. Oz was killing them. Let me read this. Dogs who were experiencing painful medical conditions, including vomiting, paralysis, and kidney failure were kept alive for days and even weeks. So Oz's team could experiment on them. The Republican candidate also led an experiment in which the team injected expired drugs into the hearts of a litter of puppies without using sedation, killing them.
I don't even know what kind of medical research you'd be conducting to see like, Hey, what if we take expired heart medications, inject them into a puppy's heart and watch what happens? Like what, what's the medical application of that? I, I, I'm sure they probably had one, right? I don't want to think that they just literally said, Ah, let's try to be cruel here. But I, I, I would like a little more insight into that. Like, what exactly were you testing? What was happening? Why did you put the expired medication directly into the hearts of these puppies? Now, recently, Dr. Oz has been catching up with John Federman in the, the polls. In fact, they have now moved that race to a toss up instead of a lean's Democratic. Now Federman still has, I think, the latest poll show. He is about a six point lead, but that's down from about a 14 point lead. But of course, those polls were taken before we found out that Dr. Oz, you know, was killing all these animals for 21 years. So maybe that's gonna change things. And I think Federman needs to get out there and repeat this message as much as he can. This is a disturbing story. This is disgusting. There were violations that took place, and people testified about the cruelty. Dr. Oz can't spend this as just routine medical research, and if Federman jumps on that, he might get his big lead back just in time for the election.
