Republicans Are Blocking Debt Relief For 16 MILLION Americans Right Now

The White House says that 16 million Americans have now applied for student loan debt relief under their new forgiveness plan. But not one of these people can get any relief because of a Republican lawsuit that has put forgiveness on hold. Millions of Americans are watching their financial freedom be held hostage because of Republican babies who don't want Democrats to secure a win. Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins discusses this.

26 million people have now applied for student loan debt relief under President Biden's student loan debt relief plan. Of those 26 million, 16 million have been approved, which would be great news if it weren't for greedy Republicans who are fighting tooth and nail to stop the relief from happening. Here's what's going on. Recently, five Republican controlled states got together, filed a lawsuit, the fifth or the eighth Circuit Court of appeals, excuse me, um, agreed to halt student loan debt forgiveness as this case seeds. And the argument from these states is absolutely idiotic. Like I can't believe the court even considered hearing it, but the states argued and apparently were compelling enough to get the program put on ice for now that, oh, they can't forgive student loan debt. It's going to diminish our tax revenues.

What? First of all, so what like, okay, that sounds like a you problem. I mean, maybe you need to figure out where you can cut money. Maybe, maybe stop sending money down to Texas for Greg Abbott's little border stunt, right? I mean, that's a thing you could do. Maybe stop cutting taxes for businesses in your state that diminishes tax revenue. Are you telling us that we can now sue you for doing that because that's what you're doing to the government? So I'd be careful about that. Can of worms or open it up there? Cuz I swear to God I wouldn't hesitate to put a group together to file that lawsuit. But also, how does that even happen? I want you to really think about this. These are federal student loan debt payments. Okay? I have federal student loan debt. So when I pay my loan, which I have not had to do since the beginning of the pandemic, that's wonderful.

When I pay my loan here in the state of Florida is where I live. I pay my loan to the federal government. Florida doesn't get anything off that like that. That's you. You get nothing because you are not the loan holder. So that's where I'm very confused about why this lawsuit was even allowed to be filed. They're taking our tax revenue away by having people in our state pay the government money. No, no. That that's, that doesn't work like that. That is not at all a thing that's happening. And if you can show me that it is, please do. Because I am genuinely confused. I can't find anything to suggest that somebody in Texas not paying a student loan to the government is somehow hurting Texas. It's not. It can't.

What it would do, however, is benefit your state because instead of making a $200 payment to the Federal Student Loan Processing Center, they now have an extra $200 that guess where they're gonna spend it right there in their hometown, in the state that filed the frigging lawsuit. They're gonna keep the money in the community, which is going to generate tax revenue for the state. But Republicans know all of this. They're not all completely just brain dead morons. They get it, but they're so desperate for the Democrats to not get this win that they are screwing over 16 million people right now. Soon that number's gonna be 26 million people. Hopefully that number continues to climb, not because I want more people screwed over, but because eventually when the courts strike down these idiotic Republican lawsuits, I want as many people as possible to get that student loan debt relief. They deserve it. But I want everybody that goes to the polls in the coming days to understand that Republicans are fighting to keep you in debt. That's what they're doing.
