Trump's Lawyers Hit With Sanctions And Fines For Filing Bogus Lawsuits

A federal judge has slapped Donald Trump's lawyers - including Alina Habba - with sanctions and fines for filing a frivolous lawsuit in Florida. The lawsuit in question is the one that Trump had filed against Hillary Clinton and the DNC for hyping up the Russia connections in the 2016 election. Late last week, a judge in Florida slapped sanctions and fines on multiple attorneys from Donald Trump, including his favorite lawyer, Alina Haba. And the judge put the sanctions and fines on these lawyers. By the way, the fines, um, what are they, $50,000 and an additional $16,000 in legal fees. So tens of thousands of dollars in fines and sanctions because they filed this knowingly fictitious and frivolous and farcical lawsuit against Hillary Clinton and the DNC and Peter str and Lisa Page, and all those other people that Donald Trump had personal political vendettas against. Here's what the judge said. As part of his ruling, uh, he accused them of using the lawsuit as a ploy to raise political contributions, calling it performative litigation for purposes of fundraising and political statements. The judge said, Trump's lawyers pressed on with claims that were farcical or false, even after being put on notice that they were erroneous.

In particular, he zeroed in on the suits assertion that, uh, a man by the name of, uh, uh, Charles Dolan, a Virginia Public relations executive, was part of a conspiracy to tie Trump to Russian influence, o influence operations. The pleadings in this case contained factual allegations that were either knowingly false or made in reckless disregard for the truth. Mr. Trump's lawyers were warned about the lack of foundation for their factual contentions and turned a blind eye towards information and their procession. The judge said the lawyers failed to conduct a pre-filing inquiry into the allegations against Mr. Dolan and have continued to advance plaintiff's false claims based upon nothing but conjecture, speculation, and guess work. He then said that the lawsuit in its entirety, entirely in its entirety, is frivolous. So pretty big, right? The judge had repeatedly told these people when they filed the lawsuit like, Hey, uh, you're making claims in this suit that you know are false.

Like, we know these are false. Can you fix them? The judge asked, like, he actually gave them the benefit of the doubt. That's why he is bringing this up. Like we frigging told you, what you're saying is not true. We gave you the chance to change it. You didn't do it. So now I'm gonna hit you. One of Trump's lawyers, had this to say, we attempted to right or wrong, and our reward is a kick in the teeth. He said they're gonna pay the fines, but they're also gonna appeal the, uh, decision here. We attempted to write a wrong, No, you didn't. The judge literally gave you the chance to write an actual wrong, and you failed to do it. So now you owe tens of thousands of dollars

Because you're just bad. And by the way, the judge actually did mention, he's like, This wasn't bad lawyering only this was your chance to try to get, you know, political retribution against his opponents. Like, it's obvious what happened here. It's obvious who was pulling the strings. The judge made clear, like he almost wanted to forgive the, the lawyers like, Listen, yes, I gotta hit you with these, but I know it's not your fault because we all know that you guys are spineless cowards just doing what Donald Trump told you. I think he should've just come out and said that, but it is what it is. Trump's lawyers are on the hook for tens of thousands of dollars. The lawsuit, of course, has been dismissed. It is not going to be picked up by another court. Trust me. So they can fight all they want, but they're still gonna have to pay the money.
