Over the weekend, Democratic Senator Elizabeth Warren appeared on Meet the Press on NBC News, where she absolutely torched Republicans for trying to prevent people in this country from having their student loan debt forgiven to the tune of 10,000, possibly even $20,000. Here is what Elizabeth Warren said, We have a court down in Texas and if they're going to play politics instead of actually following the law, they do put the program at risk. But to me, this is one of the clearest differences between Democrats and Republicans. Democrats led by Joe Biden are out there saying, We hear you on what it's like to get crushed on student loan debt. We know what that means. And so we are here to try to help the Republicans. They got nothing. They say, Nope. The only people that they're willing to fight for are billionaires and billionaire corporations and conspiracy theorists.

Democrats fight for working people, and when we fight for working people, we win. Now of course, Elizabeth Warren was referring to the court case from last week where the Trump appointed judge, uh, Pittman in Texas struck down President Biden's Student Loan Debt relief program. Uh, you had another co court yesterday do the same thing. But all of these arguments that these judges are hearing and handing down their decisions based on are totally fraudulent. Like, I wanna make that abundantly clear to people. These arguments should not pass the muster unless, of course, as Elizabeth Warren correctly points out, these judges are just playing politics instead of going by the rule of law. She also added that if we need to codify this, the student loan debt forgiveness, bring it on, we'll do it. And Democrats, by the way, you do still, uh, uh, probably gonna lose the house.

So in your lame duck session, maybe this is something you oughta work on getting that codified so that Republican courts cannot overturn it. But again, the Department of Education has pretty broad discretion over which student loans they're able to forgive. They've done it in the past without congressional approval, but with the Heroes Act, which is what the president, uh, the Biden administration used to justify the student loan debt relief under the Heroes Act, it gives them even more authority to do these kinds of things. So again, any judge out there that was not a partisan hack would look at this and say, Yeah, this is actually a thing. But more importantly, they wouldn't have even had to have gotten to that point where they had to issue a ruling on it, because what they should have done from the outset is told the plaintiff, You don't have standing to bring this case. You don't have a legitimate grievance. You don't have an injury. And that's the part I think that everybody has missed about all this. It's not just that these Republican judges are overturning student loan debt relief. It's that

The people, people bringing the case don't have an injury. If you have no injury, you have no lawsuit. What am I missing here? What am I missing with that analysis? Nothing. These cases should not have been allowed to go forward. None of these judges should have been able to even issue a ruling because the case should have been tossed on its merits due to the fact that the plaintiff has no injury. I mean, that's law school 1 0 1, and everybody just seems to forget about that part of it. But back to Elizabeth Warren's statements, of course, she's right.
