Republicans are going to use their new power in the House next year to launch investigations into everyone and everything, and this past weekend, Democratic Congressman Adam Schiff suggested that Democrats might not comply with subpoenas for these politically-charged and baseless investigations. On the surface, that seems like the right move, but at the end of the day this is a battle that Democrats likely won't win, but they could use it to their advantage. Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins explains what Democrats SHOULD do next year.

This past weekend on the Sunday morning political talk shows, democratic representative Adam Schiff suggested that Democrats might not comply with subpoenas with the incoming Republican majority in the house. Here is what Schiff had to say. We will have to consider the validity of the subpoena, but I would certainly view my obligation, the administration's obligation to follow the law. The fact that they have disrespected the law is not a precedent. I would hope that would be broadly followed, but we will have to look at the legitimacy or lack of legitimacy of what they do. You're kind of bouncing back and forth there, shift and, and I wish you would've just said, listen, these subpoenas are not gonna be legitimate, but you know what? They ignored our subpoenas. We're not gonna do the same thing. We're not gonna follow that precedent. We're gonna show them how to do this.

I don't care if it's legitimate or not. We're gonna show up. We're gonna testify. We're gonna put them in their places. Like that's what you should have said. Instead of dancing around being like, maybe we will, maybe we won't. We probably will, but there's a chance we couldn't. Like, that doesn't help anybody. It makes it seem like maybe you do have something to hide. That's not the image you want to project, and I know it's gonna be a pain in the. Republicans have basically told us that's the goal. They wanna make your lives of living hell, so they're gonna do it just to torture you. But I say roll with it. Endure, because that is going to endear you to the American public. If you show up to these bogus committee hearings, you fully cooperate. You're sitting down there, you're answering the questions, getting a few shots back in at them, you know in little clips that can go viral on social media, then you've won, right?

That's the goal. Because we know most of these investigations, probably all of the investigations are not gonna go anywhere. If they do find criminal activity, fantastic. As I've always said, if a Democrat breaks the law, put 'em in jail. I don't care. People who break the law, regardless of party lines, should be punished for it. My position on that has not and will not ever change, but my opinion based on what we know is that you're probably not gonna find anything at all. So Democrats need to sit there. They're gonna have to take it. It's gonna suck, but you're gonna have to suck it up and do it and not dance around and be like, oh, I don't know if we're gonna do it. It depends on the legitimacy. If they issue a subpoena, it's legitimate. Like whether or not you agree with the investigation, whether the investigation is a stupid one, it doesn't make the subpoena any less legitimate because it is a legitimate subpoena

Authorized by a committee that is able to issue subpoenas. So let's not do this. Let's not give them any fuel. Let's not give them something to run to Fox News about and say, Adam Schiff's not complying with subpoenas. Don't do that. That is stupid, and you're already feeding into it. Show up, testify. Smack 'em around a little bit. Go viral for it, and the voters in the next election will reward you for it. That should be the plan for all Democrats as we approach this Republican majority.
