YouTube Description
as posted by the channelConservatives promised that the investigation into the Russia investigation spearheaded by John Durham was going to expose all sorts of "deep state" corruption and vindicate Trump. It did neither. By every possible measure, the investigation was a complete and total failure, and now we know exactly how much that failure cost us - roughly $6.5 million and counting. Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins explains why this is an important lesson to remember as Republicans prepare even more sham investigations.

Well folks, the Durham investigation that of course was supposed to blow wide open the so-called deep state conspiracy to trash. Donald Trump is apparently still not over, even though the grand jury was disbanded several months ago. And Durham really has no tools to continue going after anyone. It is still technically by definition going on, uh, with apparently no end in sight. But here's the thing. According to a new analysis of the Durham investigation, we at least now know how much this botched, politically driven investigation has cost us taxpayers. And the price tag as it stands right now, and again it's not over, is six and a half million dollars. Durham was appointed and has been working for more than three years to, as Republicans put it, investigate the investigators, which has resulted in laid out by MSNBC here, two trials, zero convictions, a largely meaningless guilty plea from an obscure figure and a $6.5 million price tag.
MSNBC then, then adds by any fair measure, this is the most misguided and inconsequential special counsel investigation in the modern history of American law enforcement. It's been a failure and pretty much everybody not on the right knew that this thing was gonna be a failure and, and there's a good reason for that, not just because we knew that nothing bad happened, but this was something I didn't know either. Apparently after the Mueller investigation, which I know I'm talking about price tax here, let's remember the Mueller investigation actually turned a profit with all of the assets they were able to see. So they made money on the Mueller investigation, but after the Mueller investigation, the DOJ had their Inspector General conduct an investigation into the Mueller investigation, right? We just wanna make sure that you didn't do anything wrong, that it wasn't politically driven. So the IG did the investigation, came back to the Trump administration, said, Hey, they didn't do anything wrong.
Well, Trump was. So we got Bill Barr to appoint John Durham. And for the last three years, Durham's been conducting this investigation with nothing at all to show for it. And it's still apparently not done. Like how is this still a thing? I would think that Merrick Garland might wanna pull the plug on this. I know he probably doesn't, cuz it's kind of funny to just watch him go out there. Durham just flail and continuously fail at everything he tries to do here. But at some point we gotta stop wasting the money. And the only reason I'm even bringing this up, not just because we just learned the price tag, is because get ready for
Two years of this. This is what Republicans are going to start doing when they take back over the house tomorrow. They've made it clear. They've already said they're gonna investigate the investigators on the January 6th committee. So we're gonna have at least two straight years of Republicans launching phony investigations driven by their personal vendettas. They're gonna spend millions of dollars and they're going to come up with absolutely nothing. Durham was just the beginning. The next two years are going to be so much more stupid than that Durham investigation.
